Victorian Oil Painting 'A Lane in Enfield'

A fine quality oil on canvas landscape painting. The painting is titled on the reverse in pencil 'A lane in Enfield' and shows a busy country lane near a village with sheep being moved down the lane. The work is typical of the fine landscapes of the later Victorian period, sadly there appears to be no signature. The work is of a very high quality in both detail and technique and must have been painted by a good artist of the period. The painting is on a Reeves and Sons canvas again hinting at a professional artist's hand. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is excellent condition. The work is mounted in a period gilt frame which is all original with silvered slip. The whole is in excellent condition and ready to hang and a good Victorian landscape with a nice London location. C.1870.
