Persian School Watercolour Painting Tiger 19th Century

Description

This is a wonderful Persian manuscript painting in gouache watercolours which dates from the 19th century. The painting is in bold and vibrant colours with gilded highlights and includes a calligraphy panel above. The scene set is of a group of travellers with their entourage of hound, elephant, camel, cow etc under attack from a tiger in a wooded glade. The painting is very well executed and has great charm. It measures 12cms x 20cms, or 28cms by 36cms including the frame. It is in excellent condition and is in an ivory mount and slim gilt frame which suit it well.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.
