19th Century Chinese Watercolour Painting on Pith Silver Pheasants

Description

This is a beautiful Chinese watercolour painting which dates from the 19th century. The painting is of a pair of silver pheasants in a rocky landscape with colourful flowers. It is wonderfully executed in vibrant gouache colours and is set off by its original gold leaf edged mount. The painting is in good condition save for a couple of minor breaks to the pith and is set within a soft green marbled frame which suits it well. It is a good size, measuring 41 cms by 35 cms overall. We currently also have listed a similar painting in similar frame of another pair of exotic birds, mountain lowryheets (see photos). Please get in touch should you be interested in both.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.

You are most welcome to visit the shop but please always check to confirm we are open before travelling.
