A really charming oil on panel folk art painting of a Goldfinch. The Goldfinch is perched on a thistle in a landscape setting. The quality of the painting is naive in style but equally very detailed. The painting is worked on a cushion shaped piece of fine quality pine, this and the thistle in the subject make me think it is probably Scottish. The painting is mounted in a fine quality small gilt swept frame which must have been reused for this work as it dates from an earlier period. The frame and the picture are in very good condition and have a great untouched look.
