Superb Naive School Oil Painting of a Horse

A wonderful English school oil on canvas painting of a horse in landscape. The painting is typical of the horse and cow paintings made by local and travelling artist's in the Victorian period, with the animal boldly standing in the middle of it's home landscape. This work is particularly charming with the horse with large eyes, and the tree is just brilliant. The painting is mounted in the original oak frame and both are in excellent condition and untouched. The painting is signed and dated R.W.Crofts. 1919. The work forms a companion piece to the greyhound also listed with us, both having come from a local farming family.
