Superb Naive Oil Painting of a Greyhound

A superb English school, naive oil on canvas painting of a greyhound. The painting is typical of the animal paintings of the Victorian period made by local and traveling artist's of horses and cows, but this is a greyhound. The dog stands bold front and centre in his home landscape. The painting has a wonderful naivity and charm about and is signed and dated by the artist R.W.Crofts 1919. The painting is mounted in the original, untouched oak frame with gilt slip. The whole is in excellent condition. This painting is a companion piece to the naive horse painting by the same artist also listed with us, both coming from the same local farming family.
