Title: "A bit from nature near Grishamhurst? , Surrey". Inscribed with the title and artist's name and date 1875.

Signed and dated 1875.

Oil on canvas.

Size: 16"x 22". Framed size: 22 1/2"x 28 1/2".

Thomas Whittle,The Younger, (as he became known) was the son of Thomas Whittle,The Elder, (as he became known). Like his Father, he was a landscape painter who painted with great detail, and with a rich palette. He lived in Surrey.

He exhibited at The Royal Academy, London, The Royal Society of British Artists (Suffolk Street) The Royal Society of Artists, Birmingham, Royal Hibernian Academy, and The Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
