A charming and decorative early Victorian period pastel group by Lambert Hastenrath and dated 1849. The group is that of a mother and daughter shown full length in a classical themed setting. The colours are bright and the whole work is in great condition. The pastel is highly technically competent and Lambert Hastenrath 1815-1882 seems to have specialised in this type of portraiture. The work has been later mounted in a superb Victorian bird''s eye maple frame, which has a stunning colour and figuring.
