housed in an ebonised frame.The size overall being 84 x 94 cm high (33 x 37 inches height) the painting being 70cm x 61 cm (27.5 inches x 24 inches)

In overall very good condition. Re-lined and restored in the last 10-20 years,some evidence of overpainting.

Peter Lely (1618-1680)

Peter Lely was a Dutch painter who spent most of his career in England as a portrait painter to the court.

Lely's portraits were well received, and he succeeded Anthony van Dyck as the most fashionable portrait artist in England.
