Pair of Early 20th Century Miniature Watercolour Portraits in Ivory Frame

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a pair of exquisitely painted original watercolour portrait paintings from the early 20th century. One is a depiction of Madame Labella, self portrait at an easel in the manner of Elizabeth Vigee Le Brun. Le Brun was portrait painter to Marie Annetoinette and painted over 600 portaits and 200 landscapes in the Rococo style. The other is an extremely finely painted representation of Sarah Siddon, Georgian, Welsh actress and famous tragedienne from 1755 to 1831. The paintings are in their original inlaid ivory frame with oval recessed metal mount.

A delightful pair in lovely condition.

The frames measures 14 cms by 12 cms.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.

You are most welcome to visit the shop but please always check to confirm we are open before travelling.
