Victorian Winter Scene Oil Painting

A fine and atmospheric oil on canvas painting of a winter's evening. The painting is title on the reverse 'Winter near Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire' and is signed and dated for A.Coleman 1884. The artist is recorded and seems to have specialised in winter scenes. The painting is in good condition, it has been professionally cleaned and strip lined at the edge. The work does have the typical craquelure of paintings of the period. The work is mounted in a Victorian period gilt frame which has been later gilded. The painting and frame are in excellent condition and ready to hang.
