Gertrude Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It is well executed with superb detailing of her hair, her elaborately decorated hat, and her lace choker collar and front ruffles. The young lady appears to be excitedly exclaiming or conversing. Very charming. It is painted in black on the reverse of the glass and contained in a miniature leather picture frame (10.5 x 7.5 cm) with gilt edging around the glass. Whilst the picture frame is not in the first flush of youth, the miniature portrait is in excellent condition.
