"Panoramic View of British Horse-racing" Rare Old Aquatint 1824.

Description

This wonderful large and extremely rare original colour aquatint shows "The Race for the St. Leger Stakes of 1812 at Doncaster Course" after Clifton Thomson of Nottingham. It was published in London on May 24th 1824 by R. Ackermann, 101, Strand & S. & J. Fuller, 31, Rathbone Place and engraved by Clark & Dubourg, London. It measures 24"x 55" and is framed in a quality hand made black and gold frame giving an overall size of 29"x 61". There is a blind stamp lower right and lower left for S. & J. Fuller and it is also inscribed "PROOF" lower right. It is extensively inscribed below the image with each horse owner's name and description of the colours for each jockey.
