Small Oil Painting 'Derbyshire Cottages'

A beautiful little oil on board depicting a row of cottages in Derbyshire with figures. The work is very impressionistic in style with a lot of concentration on the light and shadows of the day. The painting is signed Newman and dated 1910 with the title in pencil on the back. The artist was nottinghamshire based and exhibited in the city but little is known of him, sadly the date of the work means he may have died in the great war. The painting is mounted in a relatively modern fine quality gilt frame.
