Superb oil on panel by highly regarded artist William Hounsom Byles RBA 1872-1935 who is more usually associated with horse painting. The painting shows a lady in historical costume picking sweet peas and is probably emblematic of summer. The painting is signed to the lower left though not dated. The painting has been mounted in a Victorian frame, the whole is in excellent condition.
