'Fast Falls the Eventide' Landscape Oil Painting

A lovely oil on canvas entitled: ‘Fast falls the eventide’ by W.H.Cleland. The scene shows twilight falling along a lane to a village with a figure walking home in the distance. The work is dated 1925 and signed by W.H.Cleland, a landscape painter working 1892-1917 who did exhibit at the Royal Academy. The painting has a great warm feel about it and technically is very good. The picture is mounted in the original gilt frame and slip, the frame has rubbed back in a lot of places giving it a very pleasant tired look, the slip has been regiit. The painting has had some minor professional restoration. The reverse has the title written by the artist and a dedication to the friends he gave it to at Christmas.
