Victorian Oil Painting of a Cat

A fine oil on mahogany panel of a cat. The painting shows a beautiful white long haired cat on a table looking down into a silver box with a jewel in it. The quality of the painting is superb and is signed 'F.Earp'. The painting has a sepia tone because of the age of the varnish. The painting is mounted in a period frame which is gilt and silvered and works wonderfully with the painting although it is slightly damaged and restored in areas. the painting dates to the end of the Victorian period, C.1890 and is a superb example of that period animal painting.
