Charlie Johnson Payne ‘Snaffles’ (British, 1884-1967)

‘Tally-Ho Back.’ (rarer version), circa 1920, signed, inscribed and dated ‘To Major Hawkins M.F.H., from Snaffles Mar.20.’ in pencil, with snaffle bits blindstamp, printed and hand coloured, in an original moulded beech frame.

Dimensions: 38 x 50cm (excluding frame)

Provenance: Major H. Hawkins, M.F.H. Atherstone, who was the model for this print

Reference: A Catalogue Raisonne of the Prints of Charlie Johnson Payne, 1884-1967, 'Snaffles', The British Sporting Art Trust, 1981
