Unusual Still Life Oil of Horse Riding Equipment

An oil on canvas still life which unusually depicts riding boots, reins, whip,and gaiters all on a horse blanket. The painting has some competency in tackling a difficult arrangement of items and the texture of the leather is particularly good. The work is liable to have been a specific commission as I have never seen such a still life of this type of subject before. It was painted quickly and with conviction, however it is unsigned, though it must have been done by an artist of skill, and it is on a quality canvas. The painting is in excellent condition and is mounted in a very good quality vintage gilt frame. The painting dates to C.1940, and is a wonderful image of horse riding without being a horse!
