Superb Pair of Large Victorian Oil Portraits

A really fine pair of Victorian period portraits in oils on canvas. The pair show a young husband and wife dressed formally and quite finely, her with gold brooch and silk shawl. The pair are not signed which is quite typical for this commercial type of portraiture but the quality of the painting speaks for itself. The pair are mounted in the original superb elaborate gilt frames. The canvases are marked for Heath, 48 Bath Street, Leamington and this may well be the artist/firm that produced the paintings The paintings have had some holes professionally restored and the frames have had some minor restoration as well. The pair are large and decorative and would work wonderfully in a country house scheme. C.1860
