A very interesting and stylish oil on canvas still life of a jar of water with flowers laid beside. The painting appears to be an exercise in colour and shape with items at odd angles. The painting is free and quick with broad brushstrokes of thick paint. The painting is unsigned but does have an inscription on the reverse relating to Laura Knight and may well have been done by a pupil or admirer of hers. The painting has been professionally cleaned and a small hole repaired. The gilt frame is a Victorian period one and in good condition.
