A charming oil on board still life of roses in a vase. The oil has been worked quickly and loosely and has a great impressionist look. The painting is signed Chantler but I cannot identify the artist, it is likely to have been a talented amateur. The painting is mounted in a very fine Florentine carved wood and gilded frame which is older than the painting and the artist must have put the two together and they do work very well.
