Ploughing Watercolour By William Bartol Thomas

Sold by: Prometheus Antiques

A super watercolour by highly regarded and sort after Lincolnshire artist William Bartol Thomas (1887-1947). The painting shows a plough team working on a Autumn morning. The painting is typical of the artist''s work by being at the same time free and loose but also extremely detailed and miniaturised. The detail of the horses, farmer and seagulls is exquisite and the landscape free and somehow painted with a misty feel. The painting is signed ''W.B.Thomas to the lower right and the whole is in excellent condition. The mount and the frame are later, with the painting dating to c.1910.
