A wonderful portrait study of a young woman, beautifully drawn in pencil and coloured chalk, signed to bottom right

Measures

9 3/4 x 7 3/4 inches

Egg was a noted genre painter who was influenced by the pre raphelites, He was educated at Saas and the RA schools, his career was plagued by ill health, he exhibited at the RA, Suffolk street and the BI and was elected RA in 1861.
