The case has a figured mahogany front with a turned circular bulb base.
Thomas Jones was born in 1775 and died in 1852. He was an optician, mathematician and philosopher. He worked at 62 Charring cross, London between 1815-1850. Jones was apprenticed in 1789 and was free by 1806. In 1850 he made his Son a partner, and he died two years later. He was an authority on scientific instruments and was maker to The Duke of Clarence and was made a fellow of The Royal Society in 1835.
Current Condition
In working order. The case is in good original condition, there is a hairline mark in the ivory address plate.
