George Stubbs Horses. Rare Pair of Old Mezzotints.

Description

"An Arabian belonging to John Warde esq." and "An Arabian belonging to Mr. Gregory" are a very decorative and rare pair of mezzotints each inscribed "London, printed for R. Sayer and J. Bennett, Map and Printsellers, No. 53, Fleet Street as the Act directs, 2 June 1777". Each is framed in a good period Hogarth frame giving an overall size of 14"x 18". These mezzotints are ex. collection of Monsieur George Usslaub the renowned French collector. Lennox Boyd records no coloured state of either of these prints in his Stubbs catalogue suggesting these are extremely rare.
