Description

Title: "Gypsies on Ramshorn".

Artist: William Mainwaring Palin. R.B.A. V.P.R.B.A. (1862-1947).

Signed, and dated with the title on an old label on the reverse 1916.

Oil on canvas. Size: 21"x 28". Framed size: 28"x 35"x 3".

Now cleaned and framed and in very good ready to hang condition.

William Mainwaring Palin was born in 1862 in Hanley, Staffordshire. Son of the engraver William Palin. Worked for five years for Josiah Wedgwood, then studied at The Royal College of Art. Also studied in Italy and Paris. Became a member of The Royal British Academy in 1905 and Vice-President in 1914. He was also Honorable Secretary (1911-1913). He also exhibited at many other Galleries including The Royal Academy (44 times).
