Raphael Hyde Parker was a genre, portrait, landscape and marine painter. He was born in Newcastle, the son of the famous artist Henry Perlee Parker H.R.S.A. (1795-1873), and lived with his family in the town until his father's appointment as Drawing Master at Wesley College, Sheffield, in 1841.
He learnt drawing and painting from his father, and when his father left Sheffield for London in 1847, succeeded him as Drawing Master at the College. His first work was exhibited in 1848, showing two works at The Suffolk Street Gallery. He also exhibited at The Royal Academy.
