Romantic Landscape Oil by a Perigal

A interesting oil of canvas with a great country house look. The painting shows a romantic landscape scene with figures on a bridge and a ruined castle in the background. The painting is mounted in the original superb quality gilt frame. The work is attributed on the frame and the reverse of the painting to A.Perigal and a signature might be lurking in the darker areas of the painting. The painting dates to the first half of the nineteenth century and therefore the artist is most likely to be Arthur Perigal Senior a Scottish artist widely respected and exhibited. The whole is in very good condition with some minor professional repair having been done to the frame. C.1840
