A finely painting oil on canvas of a group of hill sheep in moorland setting at twilight. The sheep are just beautifuly painted and the landscape so accurately described and such nice touches as the hawk in the sky.The painting is signed only in monogram which appears to be J.M.O. The painting is mounted in the original slip but has a modern frame, although the whole works very well. The painting has been professionally cleaned but some marks in the paint at the base of the painting are still visible. The work is a lovely example of late Victorian animal painting.
