Art Deco Period Oil Still Life

A really interesting oil on canvas still life dating to and influenced by Art Deco. The painting shows a bottle with an arrangement of daffodils in a Chinese bowl. The arrangement is on a group of background colours of pink, grey and dark blue. The artist use of bright colours and geometric lines is typically Art Deco in inspiration. The painting is not signed but has the inscription on the reverse of: 'painted at Cessnock Castle, Galston, Ayrshire. 10th April 1949'. The castle was owned by an eccentric antique and art dealer at the time who was host to many artists and thus this must have been done by one of them. The painting is in great condition and mounted in a period frame at a later date which has been cut out at one side to take it.
