Description

This is an imposing large Japanese shibayama plaque dating from the Meiji period, circa 1890. The plaque depicts a large bird of prey in an arbour about to take flight. This is in excellent original condition, superbly inlaid throughout and highlighted with mother of pearl. The plaque is signed to the lower left by the artist on a small inset panel. This is in its original hand carved frame which again has very attractive detail.

This is a good size measuring 70 cm by 46 cm.
