Oil Painting 'Lighting the Beacon'

A good quality oil on canvas depicting a scene with a group in a small boat arriving to light the beacons to keep ships from the rocks at night. The oil painting has the look of an illustration and may have been produced for that purpose. The quality of the work is good the figures have life and I like very much the light of the fire in the boat. The canvas is a Nottingham canvas and therefore it might be presumed to be by a Nottingham artist. There is a signature and a date but I have been unable to decifer them. The painting is mounted in the original gilt frame which has had some repair and has been regilded at a later date, the whole is in good condition. C.1910.
