Pair of Large Victorian Still Life Oils

A very large pair of Victorian period still life oils on canvas. The pair have a huge decorative impact with bright and varied content and extravagant gilt frames. The paintings are quite naive in depiction of the fruits and produce and this is all part of the charm, they are also unsigned. The paintings have had a small hole repaired and have some craqueleure and crazing of the paint and the varnish has yellowed but this gives them a great period look. The works are still in the original frames with broad silvered slips and gilded, moulded and pierced outer frames, to which a small amount of repair has been done. The pair together are very large and dramatic and give a great faded country house look. C.1890.
