A stunning watercolour by the American artist Arthur Jule Goodman. The watercolour shows a ballerina relaxing after a show, still in makeup and costume, eating and drinking bread and wine. The painting is mounted in the original fine quality gilt frame and the whole has never been touched. The work is signed and dated 1893. Arthur Jule Goodman was from Detroit but trained in Paris and London. He was the go to man for illustrations working with Dickens, and Hardy and now chiefly remembered for his paintings of Buffalo Bill''s circus. The painting is in excellent condition, a superb work of art and a stunning item.
