Oil Painting Of Harbour Scene Probably Liverpool

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Prometheus Antiques

A well executed oil on artist board depicting a harbour scene with a tug heading out towards a steamer. The painting is beautifully worked with exceptional detail on the boats and great technique in catching the water and waves. The painting is signed to the lower left: ''A.W.Higham'' I have looked into the artist and believe he was a Liverpool artist who exhibited in the city, making this highly likely to be a scene on the Mersey. The painting is in excellent condition and mounted in the original frame. The frame has had some knocks but is in good condition and has been regilded. C.1910.
