A really unusual and charming, Victorian oil painting of a Bulldog. The work is painted on canvas laid down on a wooden panel. The bulldog is shown in portrait stance with a substantial collar on. The painting is signed and dated: ''by J Beal 1874'' the work has not been cleaned and is in untouched condition. The painting is mounted in a Victorian period oak frame with a modern gilt antiqued slip.
