Very Good Oil of "Gloucester". By William E. Harris.

Description

Title: "Gloucester Cathedral During Flood on Severn".

Artist: William E. Harris. (1860-1930).

Signed and dated 1887.

Also inscribed on the reverse with name, title and date.

Oil on canvas.

Size: 20"x 30". Overall size: 29 1/2"x 39 1/2".

In it's good original gilt gold leaf frame.

Painting and frame now fully restored and in very good ready to hang condition.

Price: £1,950. Free UK delivery.

A very good example of William E. Harris's work.

William E. Harris was a popular landscape artist who lived and worked in his native Birmingham and later settled in London. His works today can be seen in the Surrey museums of Farnham and Chertsey, Henley Town Hall in Oxfordshire and the National Trust property of Newark Park in Gloucestershire (of which this painting depicts).

From 1879-1900 he showed an impressive 50 paintings at The Royal Society of British Artists, mainly comprising landscapes, river scenes and marines. While working in London he also exhibited at The Royal Academy and at The Institute of Oil Painters.
