A fine quality pastel drawing of an early Victorian period, family group of three siblings. The children are posed outside on a neoclassical garden terrace. The eldest girl stands in the background holding a spade and laurel branch. The middle girl is seated playing with a kitten, and the baby is on a cushion reaching toward the little cat. The quality of the work is outstanding for pencil and pastel, and is almost certainly a preparation sketch for a large oil painting by a superior artist. The work is signed indistinctly and dated 1844. The condition of the work is good with only a odd blemish to the paper as one would expect and not at all to the detriment of the picture.
