A wonderful oil on canvas portrait of a married couple in landscape setting. The oil shows a gentleman dressed in officers uniform and his wife at his side dressed in a fine pink dress. The setting looks to be the beautiful gardens of an English country house. The work is mounted in the original top quality gilded frame which is in untouched condition. The whole has a great country house look and the painting is in excellent condition with the typical fine craqueleure of age, as is the frame with all the original gilding. The painting does not appear to be signed, which is not unusual for portraiture of the period. C.1850.
