Regency Oil Portrait of a Gentleman

A fine oil on canvas portrait of a gentleman dating to the Regency period. The portrait shows the man smartly dressed sitting with his arm draped over a chair and looking directly out of the painting. The painting is of a very high quality but sadly not signed as is often the case with this type of portraiture. The painting is in good condition having been lined at some point and had some professional restoration to repair a dent in the canvas as can be seen with the patch on the reverse. The painting is mounted in a slightly later Victorian period gilt frame which is in good condition with some wear to the gilding. The whole is a great period piece and really gives the country house look.
