A Liverpool landscape painter of some quality.
He eventually died in poverty. Brook-Hart said of him, "had he remained in his native Liverpool, he might have achieved the success he was seeking".

His Suffolk Street exhibits included "Eastham Shore on the Mersey", 1854, "Quai Jordins, Antwerp", 1859, "Morning Mist, Mounts Bay", 1874, and "Tol-pedn, Land's End, Cornwall", 1877.
