A very interesting oil sketch on board depicting boats at rest at the end of the day. The work is an on the spot sketch done by the artist in oils, perhaps to work up into a finished oil in the studio, it has a lovely brevity and lightness of touch, which captures the scene and the ligth beautifully. The work is signed D Fulton RSW and is mounted in what appears to be the orginal frame. David Fulton died in 1930 had trained at the Glasgow school of art and exhibited widely including 138 paintings at the Glasgow school. The painting is in excellent condition. The frame has had quite a lot of old repair and has a tired country house look.
