A very fine pair of oil on canvas paintings depicting English Partridge and Red Grouse. The oils are of the highest quality with superb landscape settings. The paintings are by Donald Birbeck and signed by the artist. Birbeck was a porcelain decorated for Royal Crown Derby and specialised in bird painting, these oils were obviously done as either personal commissions or to be worked into porcelain designs. The paintings are mounted in the original slips and frames, the frames have had some restoration , but as they are the originals I have kept them. The paintings have been cleaned and two small holes in the grouse painting professionally repaired. C.1920.
