Good Victorian Honey-oak Stick Barometer

Description

A good quality mid/late 19th century STICK BAROMETER in perfect working order.

The honey-oak case features a carved pediment; carved "ears" either side of the upper part of the trunk; long thermometer; carved cistern cover and the original pair of register keys. The ivory register plates are particularly well engraved and are signed for the maker: J.S.Marratt, King William Street, London Bridge. Both the main mercury tube and thermometer tube are original.

* J.S.Marratt worked at this address from around 1845-1859 and became Marratt and Short in 1860.
