Large late Georgian or Regency era oil on canvas portrait of a young lady c.1810. The identity of the sitter is unknown but she is fashionably dressed in a high waisted gown (note the belt buckle just below her bosom), and delicate lace bonnet decorated with pink flowers over tightly curled and centre parted hair, again the height of fashion in Regency Britain. Presenting herself as an affluent and intelligent lady with a supremely confident look in her eye, she is wearing some interesting jewellery and clasps in her hand a small book whose covers match the colour of her necklace and earrings and the flowers in her hair.
