20thc Original English Oil Painting Entitled Will's Christmas, by Charlotte Hoyt Desmond, Signed and in Gilt Frame.

Description

Charming 20th century oil painting on board in gilt frame by much collected artist, Charlotte Hoyt Desmond (1916-2006), signed.

She was the former Lady Samuel, the widow of Sir John Samuel BT, later married to HJP Desmond, a banker and amateur artist, who died in 1971. Her early art training took place in Canada and England, where she studied with the late Hayward Veal, the Australian impressionist painter.

Her work has been shown in London exhibitions including the Royal Society of Marine Painters and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, and is represented in private collections in Britain, Canada, and the United States.

Charlotte Hoyt-Desmond died in August of 2006.

This painting is skillfully executed, and portrays a charming scene of a young boy opening his gifts on Christmas morning in his living room.

Size-19.5 inches by 15.5 inches.

A lovely painting, and in excellent condition.
