'Shady Pool' Oil by Clive Richard Browne

A charming oil on board by Lincolnshire artist Clive R Browne. The work is titled 'Shady pool. Ashby' and is of a tree lined pool at sunset in Ashby near Grimsby in North Lincolnshire. The painting is mounted in the original frame and in overall excellent condition. The work is signed, and dated on the reverse August 1936.

The artist Clive Browne 1901-1991 is a well-known painter of Lincolnshire scenes and exhibited widely during his long career, including the Royal Academy, The Royal Society of British Artists and The Royal Scottish Academy etc. Having seen much of the artist, this example shows beautifully his gift for moods in paintings, with the sun-setting in the right of the painting there is a wonderful feeling of calm and warmth.
