Description

Born in Manchester and raised in Leeds, William Gilbert Foster became an art master at Leeds Grammar School and later a master at Leeds School of Art. Foster exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy of Arts, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. This oil on canvas measures 12"x 18", is signed lower left and is inscribed with its title on the reverse of its fine original gilt frame the outside of which measures 20"x 26".
