Superb Victorian Oil Still Life

A superb Victorian oil on canvas depicting a vase of roses with Chinese vase and iridescent glass paperweight. The painting bears on the reverse the letters ESK this means the painting was an examined piece for the Royal Academy schools in South Kensington and this quality can be seen in the painting. The beautiful technical ability in the way the contrasting textures have been handled, the rose petals, the glass paperweight and the woven table cloth. The work is only signed in monogram 'LT' as is often the case for royal academy schools work and I have been unable to identify the artist. The painting is in good condition with a small repaired hole, professionally done. The painting is mounted in the original superb quality gilt frame. C.1890
